New Look, Same Vulgar Display of Power

For the 5 of you out there that regularly read my blog, you may notice some big, big changes. In addition to lots of tinkering under the hood (MySQL 5 & PHP 5.2) that involved a call to GoDaddy support and a discussion of Clients from Hell, I’ve also done a complete visual refresh of the site. Gone is the decidedly monochromatic theme by Cory Miller, replaced by an excitedly dichromatic theme that may be from Cory or from Shakes the Clown. I’m not quite sure who “Happy Joe” is, but I didn’t mess with the links in the footer per the license of the theme. It’s an update of the same theme, but now I can use fairly modern technology like widgets instead of having to hack my way through years-old PHP code to make most any significant changes.
Based in part on feedback from some self-aggrandizing HR hacks who commented on a Fast Company blog that unexpectedly linked here, I’ve decided to do a bit more with the site in terms of “branding” it. New look, new plugins (many of which are part of the aforementioned mechanical changes, like OpenID integration), and some great visual enhancements like the elegantly simple but powerful NextGEN Gallery. Oh, and lots more of the same acerbic wit for which I’m known. This will be a whole new experience, the blogospheric equivalent of me trashing a hotel room and then driving a large vehicle into a pool.
