A Gumbo of Unqualified Goodness

2

Howdy folks!  All six of you.  I took a little unannounced break from the blog…what with moving, being without a series of tubes, er, the Internet for the better part of a week, and not having the time and/or energy to rage against the dying of the light, I’ve been a little remiss.

Does anyone else find it odd that a country even the presidential candidates describe as a “Christian nation” would make feeding the homeless illegal?

Are we in better shape, financially speaking, than our parents?  If we don’t buy houses, have children, or bother with higher education if we do have children, then we’re doing splendidly.

Apparently, we’ve lost sight of what it means to be Americans.  Does that opinion on excessive executive compensation apply to the members of your own ruling junta?  I don’t recall Dick Cheney interrupting his missionary service to become your running mate.  What did Henry Paulson do prior to joining your Cabinet?

Verizon Wireless likes to talk about being “the Network”.  Apparently their parent company is the network of spies, all too eager to turn over information about you to the Feds.

More to come….Anthony Bourdain, Matt Pond PA, and a painful exhibition of Cat Power…

“painful exhibition of Cat Power?” – that doesn’t sound too promising, from a performance evaluation perspective!

From the Life is Harder now article, “after taking care of essentials like housing and health care, today’s middle class has about half as much spending money as their parents did in the early 1970s, Warren says.” I completely believe this. I give thanks every day that I went to college, have semi-marketable skills and am healthy. No one in our government seems to care about the bulk of Americans who couldn’t afford college (and don’t make a living wage because their jobs are being outsourced every day), don’t get offered healthcare from their employers, or who’s kids attend academically poor schools where funding has been cut consistently.
