The Food Stamp Challenge

Don’t know how many of you saw this story, but I’d recommend checking it out.  Several members of Congress took the “Food Stamp Challenge”, living on $3 of food per day.  The challenge was the brainchild of Representatives Jim McGovern and Jo Ann Emerson.  You can read about all the representatives taking the challenge here.  There’s plenty of dark humor and more than a little irony (unintentional or not) in this story, but it does highlight a sobering truth.  I’m sure that a lot of Food Stamp recipients are gaming the system, but what about those people who really do have to live on $3 a day?
