Do adults just learn to play the most ridiculous, repulsive games? OR This ain’t a scene, it’s a goddamn arms race!

Are all women crazy, or are the deliciously nutty and chewy ones simply drawn to me like the buttered side of toast to the floor? You would think someone with a PhD in a hard science would have achieved a reasonable level of self-actualization. A month of walking on eggshells, three hours of me sitting there watching her cry on the sofa and admit that a) she has a problem in relating to men, b) that most of her friends are her ex-boyfriends, and c) that she manipulates people into liking her by appearing very charming at first, and she tells me “That’s personal” when I asked her if she had started seeing a counselor. It just goes to show you that neither the ridiculously overeducated nor the nice guys will inherit the Earth.

And WTF is up with Grey’s Anatomy? I have to wonder if this most recent 3-week story arc wasn’t partly a homage to the creator of another Gray’s Anatomy?

The Shins new album is nothing short of amazing, another very positive step forward for our other favorite southwestern band. A more cohesive mix of the cowboy psychedelia of Oh, Inverted World and the more straightforward alt-country sound of Chutes Too Narrow, the new album charts previously unexplored musical territory for the band. Meditations on loneliness, relationships and friendships giving way to the ravages of time and temperament give the album its emotional punch.
